| With cancer on both sides of my family and with the loss of several relatives to cancer I am trying to seek out what might be best to lower my chances or prevent myself from getting cancer. Can those of you who have researched this please tell me what you feel will help lower or prevent cancer? I realize diet, supplements, exercise and a healthy lifestyle are very important but I need some guidance as to where to start and would like some documented sources of actual things you can do to help prevent this terrible disease. I have alot of anxiety over thinking I will get cancer. I figure the only way to alleviate some of this anxiety is to do some research and adapt my lifestyle to a healthier one. Also what are your opinions about detoxifications and supplements? Thank you for your input. |

| The best advice...get regular check-ups. If you catch it early, you'll have a better chance of surviving. |

But a good diet and healthy exercise will also help. If you have these, supplements are not necessary.
Also, write very large: "DON'T WORRY". Mental stress is not helpful. |

| I have a personal experience with health supplements that have the potential to cure cancer. My grandma was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo surgery. The condition was rather bad at that time, but a friend introduced me to a health product. She's been taking it consistently and she has, since then, regained her health. This product is also used for prevention, which my family also take for maintanence purposes, to prevent the onset of cancer. You might like to try it. |

Hi
Good diet, plenty of exercise and don't drink or smoke. It helps if you live away from the city as well. Nothing can prevent cancer but you can lessen your chances of getting it. Be very observant , cancer is treatable if caught early

There are some new companies that offer genetic testing to see what your probabilities are for certain disorders. Check out 23andme. I believe it's started by one of Google's founder's spouses.
I know the converse is true too. I know two girls that had no history of cancer on both sides of their families, and are Asian as well (lower risk for CA in general), and both have had cancer. One had colon cancer at 38, the other had breast cancer at 50. They have both went through surgery, chemo, and radiation and are now cancer free. |

You should avoid smoking, unmoderate drinking, fat food, obesity, sedentary lifestyle. They are main cancer risk factors. And check-up regularly. _________________ men health questions

Another thing you could look at is a product called BioResponse DIM. DIM is a molecule found in cruciferous plants, like broccoli, cabbage, etc... It's also a powerful anti-carcinogen. There was a clinical trial that was just recently wrapped up using it for women with mild cervical dysplasia. I'm waiting on the results of that. I've heard anecdotal stories of women who have had constant problems with HPV and cervical dysplasia, and also VIN, use it and say that it cleared up all of their problems.
It's something you should look into. |

My dad died of colorectal cancer, and many of my relatives suffered from some form of cancer. I'm therefore quite paranoid about contracting the disease myself. It is a known fact that the prevalance of cancer is caused by toxins we are constantly ingesting and inhaling. When a body is loaded with toxins, it can't function normally as it spends most of its time and energy trying to rid these. Besides cancer, other modern day diseases such as food and chemical sensitivities, arthiritis, Alzheimer's disease, autism etc could also be results of toxicity issues.
A fairly good test of determining our body's toxic levels is through the hair tissue mineral analysis test which will show the toxicity levels of heavy metals such as arsenic, lead and mercury. A detox protocol through supplementation can then be determined based on the results of the test. My family has done the test and mercury and arsenic appear significantly high. We are detoxing now and will have the test done half a year later to see if there's any drop in the readings. |

hi,
If you are a breast cancer survivor, who has completed treatment for breast cancer, your best bet for follow-up care may be with your family physician. In what is being called a landmark study, researchers followed 968 women, half of whom received follow-up care from a family physician. |

Hi Bixz525,
Cancel is one of terrible diseases ,it can not be cured easily because during operation the steam cancerous cells are removed. After removing the cells , the area reproduces that cancerous cells in your body. Thus result will be cancer. To avoid these type of diseases , several care should be taken like doing regular exercises and go for regular check-ups.
Take a good supplements in take and have some good diet for it. I am happy if you find my advice helpful. |

FACTS FOR IMMUNIZATION AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER
The nature of cancer, age distribution and associated high mortality are good indicators for the uptake of its prevention. According to reports, thousands of women die from cancer every month throughout the world. Because cervical cancer presents no symptoms and often goes unnoticed, it contributes to the highly avoidable cancer-related deaths.
This notwithstanding, the lesions (wounds) that appear prior to infection are the causes of social, psychological and health burden to the surfers of this disease as well as their families.
As a perfect opportunity to address this problem, before the facts reach alarming rates among women throughout the world, the Human Papillo Virus vaccine and immunization was developed. As cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women less than 35 years, of age after cancer, 99 percent of cervical cancer is caused by HPV virus infection – a common sexually transmitted disease that has been causing precancerous cervical wounds and cancer. Though, the skin and mucus membrane that line the cervix, anus, mouth and throat in the body are target points for HPV, continuous infection with high risk types of HPV 16 and 18 is necessary to cause cervical cancer. This can take years to develop. Before it develops, the cells of the cervix usually show changes called Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) and later results into a full blown, if untreated.
The vaccine developed against HPV types 16 and 18, the high risk virus strains are designed to prevent the acquisition of HPV infections in females. It helps in stimulating production of antibodies, which remains in the body so that when the virus is encountered again, the immune system can recognise it and attack. This helps in preventing possible cause of disease and facilitates protection against future infection by the virus. This is simply because the vaccine provides protection against the HPV –related precancerous cervical lesions. The vaccine was developed by GlaxoSmithkline and is endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for use in developing countries. Also, being immunized against the HPV virus should not stop women from screening the body for possible cervical cancer.
Education, awareness and immunization with the HPV vaccine are the cornerstone strategies to the successful prevention of this disease. It is worth noting that the decreasing age of sexual activity in modern day teenagers is a main factor in contacting this viral infection. |

d4ril,
I think that is great information, however I think it would be better served as its own thread, so that way it is easier for other people to find that information. _________________ Stage 1B1 Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Cervix.

Smoking is the most significant cancer risk factor that we can reduce. It is responsible for not only lung cancer, but many other types of cancer. One of the best ways to prevent cancer is to quit smoking or never start. As soon as you quit, and it's never too late, your body reaps the benefits of being tobacco-free. |
