My mom needs help. She has Acute Mylogenous Leukemia and it is unknown how long she has to live. She is currently living off of disability due to her inability to work. She is single and is trying to raise three kids on her own while at the same time battling disease. If there is any way possible to get my mom some help please let me know. We are suffering financially and anything would help.

musicman967, I am very sorry about your mother's cancer. I am also sorry that no one has replied to you. My father died of ALL... not AML... but they are not that different. I have no help for your mother's financial needs. How is she doing?

I am thinking about and praying for your mother. I hope everything is ok.

As an AML survivor and a retired Social Worker might I suggest the Leukemia Society. I doubt they provide ongoing services but they might be able to assist with gas reimbursements from transportation costs to and from Dr visits or treatments. They offer quite a bit of help and have several specialized folks at their 1-800 number to help. Also depending on age of children, your local social services or human services agency can help with daycare, food stamps just to name a few. Every little bit helps. She may qualify especially b/c of dependent children and medical costs which she may be able to get help with that. Doesn't hurt to try. You'd be surprised at the assistance available and I know where I worked many of these came in the form of special grants and if we didn't use that money for those special needs we would loose it.

Thanks for the advice and time to post - rocketpup1.

musicman967- I'm so sorry about your mother's cancer. I'm not sure what can be done with finance- but maybe ^ you should look into this for some sort of help.

I hope you get some help and support for the both of you.
