Hi everyone, your site is very inspiring and helpful to me. I just found it.
I was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and having the whipple procedure on Tuesday. The dr. says after if all goes well, i have to go through chemo and radiation. If anyone has gone through the whipple procedure please tell me what it s like, i'm scared to death. i have no idea what to expect. does the pain go away? I have alot of pain in my back and my abdomen.
This all started with have my gallbladder out and I continued to have pain and they kept doing more and more tests and finally found cancer. I think it is early because they can do the surgery but I know there is no cure.
I don't know what to expect and I wonder if you would be so kind but to let me know what's coming.
My heart goes out to all of you who share so freely. You are helping so many people, and just from reading your posts I don't feel so alone with this. |

Hi there anymouse
First off why no name? We have started some research with cancer survivors to see if we can find some common beliefs and subsequent behaviors that enabled these people to survive, ordinary people like you and me. And one of the first things is a sense of ownership seems to be present among survivors. They say things like “I have cancer”, "I will do what needs to be done to beat this”, “my cancer is now in remission”, “My Oncologist said”, not words like, the, they or them.
So hey you have taken the first step in looking for help on here, so when you are ready, let us know who you are
I did not have pancreatic cancer, but do know the fear. All I can suggest is to ask all the questions that you have. Do not be afraid to ask, at the Oncologist, in the ward, in the outpatients, at the chemo. treatment center. They tend to be busy, so often don’t volunteer info. But if you ask they are normally happy to answer.
And of course ask questions on here we will help any way we can. _________________ With Love
