| My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in Feb of 2006. After test and scans it was determined it had spread to his liver. He took chemo for 3 months and then they removed 80 percent of his liver, his gall bladder and the section of his colon that was affected. He was pretty weak and had a tough fight ahead of him but with God's grace he pulled through this. Then in Dec 2006 they started him back on chemo as they found another tumor in his liver. In Jan 2007 he had a massive heart attack and was pronouned dead on the table. I was trying to get the information out of my purse as to what funeral home to call and a nurse came running in and said he was coming back. They had a faint heartbeat. They rushed him to the city and he was in ICU for 2 weeks. They advised me to take him to a nursing home, as he wasn't thinking clearly and was having a hard time getting around and feeding himself. I told them I wanted to bring him home and IF in 2 weeks I didn't see a difference in him, I would agree to the nursing home. After getting him home in his own surroundings and home cooked food, he began to show signs of improvement. He amazed all the doctors. In Feb. he had to go back to the hospital to have a tumor on his liver burnt with a microwave needle. He did pretty well the rest of the summer and we even went on a Mission trip with our church. Then in Sept they found more tumors on his liver. They decided to try a new treatment called Sirespheres. They injected them into an artery that goes directly into his liver. He had 2 of these treatments, but unfortunately they were not successful. He is now doing no chemo or any type of treatments. He sleeps alot and is nauseated alot. We are talking about calling Hospice. It is sad as he has put up such a good fight, but has alot of Faith that when the Lord is ready for us it doesn't matter how hard we fight. I am hoping Hospice can give me some support as well. We have been married 42 years and this is hard on both of us. I try to stay upbeat for him and I am so confused and hurting inside. |

bsl,
My dad (whom I lost 3 months ago from secondary liver cancer) said each one of his final days, that our being there was his greatest medicine and his biggest bliss. As all of us going through such battles know, there is nothing more we can do, than being there and giving all our love and support in each possible way we can device.
May you find the strenght you need in your heart and your love. Hold on and may peace be with you and your family.
