| My SO, Tim is dying. I wrote in December to say that he had a large sized gioblastoma. He made it through 7 weeks of chemo/radiation without any problem. He was acting better. Then about 3 weeks after that he starting doing his funny things again. The weather here in Iowa has been terrible. Two weekends ago we got ice/snow again. I was at home with him. Following him around while he made mayonaise/papertowel sandwiches and trying to burn all sorts of things in the fireplace. I couldn't leave, EVER. Come that next Monday I made the decision that I needed some help. It took me two hours to get him in the car. I took him to the hospital and he has been there for 10 days. The tumor has spread everywhere. He wants to come home. I can't let him come home as much as I want to because he has a 14 year old boy that I am living with, that I don't want to have see him die at home. I fear the boy will not want to go into the house anymore if that happens. They told us yesterday that they think he has 2 days - week left. He is still talking some and really, really wants to come home. I feel at my lowest for taking him there and not letting him come home, because I don't have enough help. The doc told me that it is likely that the swelling will get so bad that the brain will swell into the spinal cord area, with death occuring at that time. How terrible. I miss him not being around. And I hope that the others here on this forum are telling those they love that they love them. It is time to start doing good things for everyone around us that needs it. What is next? |

Kad, I am so very sorry about Tim. It sounds like he has a GBM IV? My mother did of an aggressive glioma in 1998. I was her primary care provider as well. I had to try to keep her from burning herself because she could not see anything to her left but was not aware of that fact. She eventually became so weak that she had to be hospitalized and died within a week.
Toward the end, they put her on morphine. It helped with her anxiety but it also made her sleep a lot. She eventually just slept longer and longer until finally she just didn't wake up . I am glad I was with her even though it was very painful.
You and Tim and in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

Hi Karen
Just wanted to let you know how very sorry & sad I am to hear what you're going through with Tim at the moment. His disease sounds very aggressive - GBMIV's are nasty, nasty, nasty tumours.
He is such a young man (same age as our Mark)! My heart goes out to you & your family with so many difficult decisions to be made now with palliative care & the like.
Listen to your heart & spirit, it will be your guide through this awful time, God will be with you throughout. My thoughts & prayers are with you now.
God Bless, Angie. _________________ Brother has GBMIV

Hi Kad,
I am so terribly sorry to hear your story. My husband has a grade 2 glioma, and you are living through what I fear of as being our possible future.
My heart and thoughts go out to you and your Tim.

Hi Kad,
This is such a terrible disease. My heart goes out to you, Tim and his son. It is so unfair. My partner has GBMIV and I can't imagine getting to the stage where you are, yet I know it will eventually come. I send you strength, prayers and love and support across the miles. Please stay in contact and let your feelings out and even though we are not near it will help (even in some small way) to have people who care and you can unleash your feelings to. Love Jen. _________________ Love to all. Jen.

kad,
I am so sorry...so sorry. I have prayed for you, your son and family. I pray that when it is his time that God will make that time, if and when it happens, peaceful.
Cherish the remaining hours, days that you have with your son. Kiss him, hold him as much as you can. Let him always know that he is not alone. Envelope him with all your love.
