I have been facing the possible diagnosis of uterine and/or ovarian cancer for several weeks, however, now I am faced with the possibility of colon cancer as well.
For the past 2 months or more I have been experiencing pain in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen. Thinking it was probably due to my "female" problems I ignored it. My bowel movements were not any different, nor was the stool when it came out. Now, I am noticing that the pain comes prior to me feeling as though I need to move my bowels. When this happens at night I am constipated. In the AM I don't have a problem going at all.... it comes out loose and I have noticed the stool is flattened. The consistency is the same and there is no apparent sign of blood.
My doctor says it is imperitive I have a colonoscopy right away which frightens me even more.
I am a 39 year old mom of 3 and very overweight. I know my weight and poor diet greatly increases my risk of cancer. What are the odds that I have colorectal cancer? I had a colonoscopy in December of 04 which came back clean as a whistle. My symptoms then were due to stress and nothing like what I am experiencing right now.
I guess my other fear is that I do have uterine cancer and that it has spread to my colon already. I am worrying myself sick right now. |

Hi llcoolbeans. I am so very sorry about the uncertainty of you having cancer. Have they done a biopsy on either one yet? It is possible that you really only have one primary that has metastasized. I am not really sure which is worse. But two primaries is quite rare. Usually, we hear of a person having a major organ with a primary and a skin cancer primary as will. Rarely two major organs at the same time.
Keep us informed. You are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

I am in the process of getting the colonoscopy scheduled to check for cancer. For now, I am scheduled for the hysterectomy in 2 weeks at which time they will do a biopsy. My OB/GYN keeps saying there is only a small chance of uterine cancer because of my age. However, I am extremely overweight which increases my odds greatly.
I just feel that I have way too many symptoms for all of this to be nothing.
I had a colonoscopy just over three years ago and a biopsy of my uterus 1 year ago. Both came back great. Is it possible for cancer to grow and spread that quickly? I guess I am just looking for some encouragement to hang on to until I get the results back. |

Oh, I forgot to add that I have an appointment on Thursday with a dermatologist because I have a suspicious spot that has just appeared on my cheek.
No, I am not usually a hypochondriac. All these things have happened at the same time.
