Angie,

So, this was nausea AFTER completing chemo? My wife has been off chemo for over 2-months, but takes other meds that have nausea as one of possible side-effects. Frustrating... she battles vomiting from time to time and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.

Now there is some concern over edema in face (much subsided) and continued edema in legs and feet. Went to the dr. 3x's this week and checking heart among other things. This sucks!

So, current symptoms:

1. long bout with diarrhea
2. nausea on occasion (using 3 types of anti-emetics)
3. edema in legs/feet (face)
4. fatigue
5. continued dbl vision (possible 6th cranial nerve damage) and hoping that it will correct itself...waiting game for now.

Eeesh.

Dear Richard

Sorry to hear Maria's had such an "ordinary" week!

I too was on a few other meds at the time & my illness was related to a virus causing kidney failure & pulmonary haemmoraging due to my immune system turning on itself & attacking my small blood vessels - not cancer! The treatment regime at the time was, chemo (cyclophosphamide), steroids & immune suppression drugs. Sooo totally different scenarios, I guess we really shouldn't compare?

Although side effects from chemo were fairly harsh which also bought on early menopause (at 43 yrs young). I do know chemo continues working after finishing the course I don't know for how long? I was also having troubles with my SODIUM levels dropping & was told this could be the cause of the nausea/vomiting? The nausea was a constant in my life whilst I recovered & medical team could never say for sure what was causing it?!

Has Maria taken steroids? My Bro takes steroids & they make him puffy & swollen up all over! My Bro also suffers from edema in his legs but this is due to the fact that he is immobile since his debulking surgery in May 07. There's no point 2nd guessing here as Maria's Drs seem to "have it in hand".

I continue to keep you in my prayers & thoughts.

Cheers, Angie.
