As a florist, we know ethylene gas kills flowers (ethylene gas - ciggerette smoke, car fumes - emissions, rotting fruits & vegs, plastics & fluorescent lights all increase these levels.

Please note that this is food for thought so to speak.

But our veg are now being set in rooms and they spray this gas on the food to make it turn colors for selling to the public. Mainly bananas, tomatoes and Avocados but others as well. The effect of this gas on vegs will show up by the yellowing on the cucumbers, broccoli and brussel sprouts, scald and loss of crunch on apples, etc.

The EPA has now said exposure has been associated with cancer....(you can look up)

Anyway, florists use power pellets which oxidize the ethylene gas with nascent oxyen (nascent oxygen is a type of oxygen that oxidizes theylene gas, molds, rots and orders) and when the pellets are used (6-9 months) they become usable for organic fertifler.

My thinking on this is that maybe the use of ethylene gas to spray our food is not such a good idea and if possible raise our own. Also, it may be that one day, someone needs to produce pellets for people to keep in their homes or cars to help keep their envirnment cleaner.

I know that George Burns smoked 70 years and lived to be 100. So I am not saying smoking is the only thing to watch for but also he not only laughed a great deal but caused others to laugh. I do believe this put good things into his body probably to offset some of that smoke.
