Hello everyone,

This is to introduce myself. My name is Ram and I am an Indian working in the Sultanate of Oman. 2 months back my father in India who is 73 years old was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis with portal hypertension and hepatoma of left lobe of liver with multiple secondaries.

The oncologist has ruled out surgey, radiation etc. The only choice offered to us was sorafenib which we declined.

My father is currently at home and looks and acts perfectly normal with no symptoms at all. The oncologist has given us a 6 month time-frame.

We are all still in shock. My father is a teetotaller and a non-smoker and has led a highly disciplined life. He has never been seriously ill in his life. Probably this has been unfortunate because we never had any reason to suspect that anything was wrong with him and he has never had a thorough medical.

We now understand that he had a bout of hepatitis in 1955 and this has been the root cause of the cirrhosis leading to cancer.

I found this forum in a Google search and look forward to learning more about this dreadful disease and coping with it.
