My OH has sclc, two weeks ago they said that the third line topotecan was not working, in fact his tumour were bigger. I was told he may have some single number months left. He has since had another round of radiotherapy which has indeed reduced the tumours in size around his neck at least. Tomorrow he has another session of chemo starting despite me being told it was'nt working? His right arm has no power now and his feet are slightly swelly, are the lymph glands down below starting to fail now, does the reduction in tumour size change the prognosis and what is the point of more of the same chemo if it was'nt working? Havent had chance to speak privately to the oncologist yet. Any thoughts here?

LSW,

So sorry to hear that third line didn't work. Did they switch the chemo? I can't imagine continuing with the same regimen if their was significant growth. Unfortunately options get very thin at this poing and the radiation probably is helping to keep him comfortable.

I'd definitely be talking to the oncologist. There is not point putting him through more chemo that is not working. This is very confusing for you I'm sure. Swelling is pretty common for a variety of reasons and maybe they will put him on some diuretics for more comfort.

Good luck and let us know how he is doing.

What does OH mean? (Other half??)
