Here's a good read on the subject of liver cancer.

It's not particularly uplifting, but an informed patient is usually a better patient, who can then ask pertinent questions and recognize useful answers.

Two things that irk me about physicians are that they'll seldom tell you any more than they think you need to know, which make me think that their own knowledge is less than complete, and telling you in medical terms that you've never heard before, without fully explaining them.

If you'd like to read the article, go to medicinenet.com. Click on Diseases and Conditions tab, then look up Hepatocellular Carcinoma, then for liver cancer. It's long, but quite informative.

One thing I learned ... the liver regenerates in a matter of weeks! I had no idea it could do it so quickly.
