Hi everyone, thought I would report back on my dad who had the DaVinci prostatectomy on Wednesday. Surgery itself went great. The surgeon said that he could not see or feel any signs of tumor after the prostate was removed but since only one of the 12 biopsies was positive and that was only 2% cancer, he wasn't surprised. Also told us he originally wanted my dad to do radiation instead!! My dad was so freaked out at the thought of having cancer in his body and the "well, it's probably gone" nature of radiation he insisted on the surgery. It took 5 hours although over an hour of that was setting up the robot. He came out of recovery and was groggy and uncomfortable but feeling ok.

The next morning he was in misery as the CO2 build-up in his chest made feel he was having a heart attack and also made him nauseaous. The nurses forced him out of bed and walking around and after that he felt much better. This morning he felt even better and was discharged. Catheter expected to come out in ten days.

Although I did not post a lot, I read almost every thread and am so pleased at the information that is out there for people suffering with PC. Please keep up the good work and my best wishes to everyone who is affected by it, patients and their families alike.

I live in northern New Jersey so if anyone is from around here, let me know, as we are VERY pleased with both the surgeon and the hospital and would highly recommend both.

Sounds like the surgery went well. Best wishes for continued good news.
