I am 18 years old and have had a slew of health problems over the last year, but this latest one is quite concerning.

I developed a pimple or a boil or something quite a while ago on my forehead. I popped it, drained it, and thought I was done with it, but it left a small bump. I thought nothing of it and it never went away. Then I had some other skin problems, had a couple staph infections, but had them removed; I don't know if they were MRSA or not because I never got to see the report or results due to lack of money to go back to the doctor.

Well, a few weeks ago, the pimple/boil from way back when turned black, and the area around it turned reddish with a little bit of swelling. I didn't know what to make of it and thought maybe it was eczema or something. Well, a couple days ago I noticed some splotchy brown spots on my upper left thigh that look like pictures I've seen of melanoma. This worries me greatly, especially with the advent of another one of those "oh it's a pimple" but then I drain it and it doesn't go away things on my neck. Which now aches from time to time.

Is it likely that I have melanoma? I plan on going to a doctor as soon as my insurance kicks in, but that could be a couple weeks. I'm extremely worried.

I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, and concerns.

All i can recommend is to see your Doctor as soon as possible. It will ease your mind, and or, get treatment started. IF needed.

It seems God likes to toy with me and create little scary coincidences, or maybe I'm just one of those people who overreact to health problems, but it turns out that both things occurring were simply coincidences...

The dermatologist was very quick in diagnosing both the scar from the black spot on my face and the brown spots on my leg. Apparently the black spot was a cherry angioma (I'm still not 100% on this, but I suppose she would know) and the brown splotches on my leg are tinea versicolor, a common yeast infection of the skin.

I wish everyone here with any type of skin cancer the best, and thank you for your support.
