To start things off, I am a 21 year old female. I found this page and was hoping I could get some opinions. I just had a CT scan on Friday and am waiting for the results, but I am just trying to find out if I have any reason to worry. Obviously my doctor was concerned or he wouldn't have ordered the CT but since I had it on Friday I have to wait to get the results, they told me 1-2 business days so I'm hoping my doctor will call me soon. And I'm wondering how accurate it will end up being because they didn't inject me with any dye.

A little over a year ago I started getting terrible migraines. It started out as one, that then dragged on and on, and now I have an almost constant migraine all the time. At first it was thought that it might be hormonal since I had just gone off the pill, but a little over a year later I have no hormones in me, since my doctor recommended me getting an IUD and I opted for the copper one because I didn't want any artificial hormones. My doctor figured it was just a combination of migraine and tension headaches, and I went with that since I know migraines can be genetic and my parents do have occasional migraines. What worries me is that my migraines are not typical. Most migraines don't last longer than 3 days, while I can have one that lasts at least a month if not more. Sometimes the pain changes to a very sharp throbbing pain that feels like someone is stabbing my head, and in the off chance that it doesn't hurt, I always feel the pressure sitting there, always in the same spot on the right side of my head above my temple.

I wasn't really worried until recently though, when I started developing more worrisome symptoms. At first I wasn't sure if it was me or the medication since my doctor had put me on Topamax to try to prevent the migraines. I ended up getting off of it though because it left me in so much of a fog I couldn't concentrate, and still had migraines pretty frequently. Even after I went off the Topamax I still have memory problems that are new. I have trouble remembering things from earlier in the day and also with spatial memory, I often can't remember if something happened a week or month ago. I also have trouble finding words a lot lately, even the most simple words I will struggle to find in my head along with having problems concentrating that I didn't have before.

These symptoms worried me, but it wasn't until I started getting muscle twitches in my left arm and leg that I started to wonder, and I have also developed vision problems. My vision will blur over randomly and no matter what I do it doesn't go away. I've tried changing my contacts thinking it was a hole or scratch and putting eye drops in thinking my eyes were just dry but nothing helped. And my doctor made a comment when I saw him last Wednesday that I had large pupils even though I had a migraine at the time and was very light sensitive. He didn't see any signs of swelling there though which was a relief. But I have been having the worst fits of lightheadedness and dizziness that come out of nowhere. I can be standing or sitting completely still and feel like I'm about to fall over. Also, I've had a few instances where all of a sudden I won't be able to hear out of one ear. I ended up taking a list half a page long to my doctor and even now I can't remember much of what was on there.

I know my results will be back soon, but I just wanted an opinion from some people who have experienced this before. Also, I don't know if it counts for much, but I have this really strong gut feeling that there will be something there. I'm sorry this ended up being so long, but I figured the more information I give the better advice I can get.

Hi Aggie Smile
I know when people think of headaches and migranes, they think, I might have a brain tumor. Have you had any seizures? that seems to be a sign of a brain tumor most the time. Don't worry until you HAVE to. When my husband found out he had one, they did the scan and rushed him to the hospital as soon as they had the results. I mean he had the scan, and about 20 minutes later he was in the hospital. I think you will be fine Smile

Hi AggieChick1587, I am so sorry about your health concerns. It does sound like you have a problem. I do not know what it is. It could be a brain cancer or migraine + anxiety. Either on can cause significant problems.

Keep us informed. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Thank you both for your responses. It is nice to get some input from people who know a little more.

Kristalee, I thought I was going to be getting my results right away, but I didn't know that the CT scan took longer...did your husband have a CT or MRI when they immediately took him to the hospital?

Brainman, thank you for your information also. I am hoping to find the root of my problem because I know something is wrong. But even from the beginning I've had my doubts as to the migraine/tension headache diagnosis, but there were no other symptoms to disprove it. And like you said, even if it is simply severe migraines, they cause me a ton of problems.

I will definitely post an update once my doctor informs me of the results. I'm just hoping it is as accurate as possible because they didn't use the contrast dye. I'm just hoping I get an answer out of all this.

Hallo Aggie Smile
My husband fainted or what thats what we thought, he actually had a seizure. It was a saturday. He went to his primary care doctor next monday , they ran test and decided to get a CT scan. They sent him to a out-paient place near our house. The CT didnt take long. He called me to let me know he was on his way home, then called back and said he was waiting for results.....anytime there is results its bad news. The doctor called me and said they see something. This was right after his scan. I was told to come pick him up and drive him to the hospital right away. I'm not 100% certain, but if they saw anything, I can't imagine you wouldnt have been told already.
I have to also mention, Mark (hubby) didn't have any symptoms except for the seizure, he had headaches sometimes, but not enough to be on a migrane level. No numbness. No vision probs. I think the area his tumor was in had to something to do with it. They think he could have had it for years.
I can't tell you not to worry, but I hope you can get some ease in the fact that if something was seen, you would have know by now. I pray that its only migranes /anxiety!

Just as in Kristalee's post, after mild suspected minor seizures and no other symptoms whatsoever, I went for an MRI. I was stopped as I left their office on a Saturday morning from the procedure. there's no worse sinking feeling than being tapped on the shoulder and told 'you need to talk to your doctor before you leave' Sad. I Had to talk to my doctor on the phone, I had a tumor, needed to go in and see him to arrange surgery. I was told under no circumstances should I be driving home. Bad news tends to happen very quickly I guess. 15 months since surgery though and follow up MRIs show no regrowth of a resected gr 2 Oli so far! Next MRI in mid Dec. Funny thing is I'm the world's worst hypochondriac and every time I go to a doctor I fear the worst - except in this one case! When I went for the MRI I was completely convinced it would be nothing.

Thank you again for your replies. I am hoping that since I haven't heard anything yet that only good news will come of it, although the absence of anything in my brain is not much more comforting because I am still left with all these strange symptoms that I know mean something is wrong but have no idea what is causing them. I know no matter what I will find the cause of all this and whatever it is I will fight until I can't fight anymore.

I am feeling much better after seeing a friend of mine today and getting some energy work done. I know some people don't believe in it, but if you are open to different forms of treatment I would suggest looking into reiki. It is pretty amazing and makes you feel great. I left today feeling so much more confident. Acupuncture is pretty great too! Even though I still have my migraine that started 2 weeks ago and I'm still uncertain what is going on, I know I will make it through all this. I'm pretty sure my doctor will be calling tomorrow since I didn't hear anything today and the technician told me 1-2 business days, but I will definitely update once I have any news.

well i finally had to call since I hadn't gotten any contact from my doctor and just want to figure things out. I guess he had sent a letter saying that everything is fine. I am both happy and discouraged by this, because I am very thankful I don't have a brain tumor obviously but I don't know where to go from here. There is obviously something wrong with me, now it will just take a little more tinkering to figure out what I guess.

Thank you again for all your responses about my concerns.
