Can anyone please provide any helpful advice? Here's my history.

10/01, PSA was 7.0, biopsy done, had 5% prostate cancer.

11/01 had Brachy therapy w/104 seeds, lowered PSA to .07, couldn't urinate so catheter was installed.

7/04, urethral opening spread, still couldn?t urinate, catheter back in.

9/04, put 2 vertical slits in urethral opening

5/05, mechanical dilation of urethra, didn't help, back to catheter
My PSA remains at .07, but I've had 13 catheter installations to date. My doctor says there is scar tissue built up that resulted from the seed implantaion.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Can anyone suggest any procedures or doctors who have solved this problem?

Dear Rich,

Thanks for posting. I am not an Urologist, so this would be better answered by someone in that field rather than me. But I have seen patients who have urethral strictures like you describe that cause persistent obstructions. I know that there is a treatment where the Urologist can use laser to remove some of that blockage. I don't know if in your case it would be advised or not.

best regards,
Leo

Leo,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your thought and advice. My hope is that someone heard of this situation before and could suggest a specialist who has solved similiar problems before.

Apparently there is scar tissue that built up causing the blockage. My urologist made two vertical slits in the opening, then tried diliation, but didn't try laser technology.

Does anyone have information on this laser procedure? Any success stories or people I can contact.
Best Regards,
Rich Jacobs
