Hi,

Over the weekend I got news that my gran has been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to her brain. She's now unable to handle simple maths, her speech is hard to understand, she gets names confused, she falls...She hasn't seen the oncologist or the lung specialist yet so we're not sure where we stand regarding the prognosis. My mum and I will be taking care of her and my grandfather (who has parkinson's disease). I don't know what to expect since I've never been through this before. I just feel I need to speak to people who know and have experience of this.

Take care,

Amira

Hello Amira,

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. There are treatments available for this. While it is unlikely that she will be cured, treatment can prolong her life. It is impossible to know how long and what will happen, especially not knowing the details or what the doctors mentioned. But have faith that there are treatments for this.

best regards,
Leo

Hi Leo,

Thank you so much for your reply. We are still waiting to hear from the lung specialist and the oncologist - they seem to be taking a whilte to get back to us to arrange an appointment. Fingers crossed we'll hear soon what the situation is.

Take care,

Amira
