Hey there,

As you probably know from my previous posts, my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 5 weeks ago and has been on traditional radiation therapy and chemotherapy for a week now.

What changes in diet and supplements do people generally recommend to combat this disease? Are there any specific food items that help regulate the digestion in the absence of full pancreatic function? Also, are there any specific vitamins or herbal supplements that people recommend?

I've heard of this herbal supplement called Triphala which has shown some promise but since it's also listed as a laxative, I am afraid of giving it to my mother since she's already battling diarrhea. Does it really act as a laxative or is it very mild such that the benefits outweigh the costs?

Also, my mother has been having very watery (almost clear) diarrhea for the last 20 days of so. We've done numerous stool and blood tests to rule out infection. Doctors at this point have ruled out any obvious problems and they say that it could be related to IBS because of her anxiety. Does anyone have good remedies for controlling diarrhea?

I'm also worried that it might be something more severe such as cancer spreading to the colon or the bowels. Is that a common occurrence?
