My mom had a routine CT Scan of her abdomine and spots were found on the liver. She then was scheduled to have a PET scan Monday. Unfortunately the results did not turn out very well. Many tumors on the liver were luminated and a large mass on the Rectum. The doctor told me they "know" it is cancer but can't confirm until she has the biop next week. The doctor said they do believe it originated in the Rectum and spread to the liver and is in an advaced stage. They said it is very bad and it is the same cancer that killed Farrah. Sad I have been reading all I can about options for my mom because we are not ready to give up on her. She is full of life, no pain, and is not ready to leave us. Any information that can be shared is much appreciated on what all of this means, and treatment options.

Thank you!

hi cindy.............sorry to hear about your mom's condition. i had a large rectal cancer and after surgery it took a year for the doctors to realize it was stage iv and had spread to my liver. no chemo or radiation was given because the lympth nodes came back neg, for cancer. needle biopsy confirmed it was met, from colon. six weeks chemo and surgery at emory univ. hospital five lesions were found in my liver. three on left and two large on rt. all were taken care of and i am still here six years later. i've had set backs and i know the fight is not over but i will not give in without a fight.......i have a daughter and it kills me to see the fear in hear eyes each time we have a set back. my heart goes out to your family. go back and look at the battle ''star'' fought. she had an angel sent to her named rob and with her faith and will to live she helped everyone who was lucky enough to have met them [rob] via this forum. ....this thing can be beat. never give up. stage iv can be treated i am living proof. ....god bless bruce

hi cindy my mom has colon cancer too she has been battling it now for almost 5 years Its a rough road but there is hope-mom had some mets to the liver awhile back and that was taken care of-gone oblated and removed. but she is still battling the colon part. were still hanging in there with hope you can read others stories and there will be some similarities, but you cant go by that for each individual is different on how their body handles thing.-If your mom is like mine -they arent going to give up and with your patience and support and love you will help her fight her battle. there are alot of people who believe in prayer(if you dont its ok we will still support you) but I personally say a prayer for my mom with votives and include the entire forum every time I light my candle. That now includes yo and your mom too. keep in touch with this forum-were all going down the saame road -sometimes we vear of to different paths along the way-but always meet up again. Just keep thinking good positive thoughts no matter how bad things seem look for the good points-surely helps build strength to fight even harder. Smile

Hi Cindy,
Each individual is different. Each person reacts differently to procedures, treatments and surgeries. Treatments for cancer have made hugh strides. There are so many options and hopefully one of these will work for your Mom. Keep the faith, find great support and don't forget to take of yourself while you are are worrying and taking care of your mom. Will remember you and your Mom in my prayers.
Take care,
Lucinda

Thanks to everyone for your replies. We definitely need all of the encouragement we can get right now. She has her biop Monday and we will know next steps then. We absolutely believe in prayer and appreciate as many people praying for my mom as we can get! God works in mysterious ways and we will keep our faith that she will be okay and has options available for treatment.

Thank you again! Smile

Hi Cindy,

Sorry about your Mom but with totally focus positive Prayer and fighting this evil disease, its amazing how far you can go. Many have bene told that they have months to live and still around years later.

Do not let the word cancer grip you, your Mom or family with fear, its a illness yes,, but we can out run it.

Milk Thistle is very good for the liver,,check out on google, also check out sugar and cancer on google and linseed oil, and asparagus and cancer... does your Mom take a good multi vitimin and make sure she takes each day 1000mg VIT C ...

God Bless You, Your Mom and Family.....

Best Wishes .......Rob

I just wanted to let everyone know how much me and my mom truly appreciate everyone's responses and prayers. I read her the responses from everyone and it really lifted her spirits. She goes in tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. to have her colonoscopy and the biopsy of the mass on her rectum. I also found some milk thistle for her tonight and told her that we need to get a prescription from this from her doctor when we see him.

Again, please help me pray for good news tomorrow and even if we get bad news (confirmation) that there is hope for a cure. Thank you for being here for us. I told my mom that when she gets all of these tests finished, I am going to buy her a computer and show her how to use the internet so she can talk to all of the good people out here that can give her advise and lift her spirits with positive stores (she is 65 and has never attempted to use a computer).

Thanks again and I will let everyone know what the docs tell us!

Cindy,

Please tell your Mom I will pray for her specifically at 8 am - I am in the car on the way to work at that time, so I will do a rosary just for her.
I keep a rosary just for forum members, it has a medal of St. Peregrine on it - he is the patron saint of cancer....

God bless
