Hi all,

I am very new to this site and also new to the world of Hodgkin's. I have found out today that my biological father died of hodgkins lymphoma when I was only 4 years old. I have always known that he died of a blood related cancer but never knew what the exact details were.

Over the past 8 years I have had 3 major pulmonary embolisms which have resulted in hospitalisation and various operations and treatments. I will need to take warfarin for life etc and also have an IVC filter in the vena cava.

Should I go and get tested for hodgkins due to family history and my blood problems? I do have a couple of the symptoms but they could be related to other things, I dont know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers
Simon

Hi,

I am not sure, don't quote me on this, but I think that the link between Hodgkins and pulmonary embloi is for people with Hodgkins, POST CHEMO. I know that it can result in lung problems.

Whatever symptoms you have, and if you are worried about them, then I would advise anyone to visit the doctor.

I'm sure ChemoMan would be able to add something here when he next signs in.

Aisha.

Hi simonroberts77

You need to take any concerns you have to your Doctor. To my knowledge your current medical condition is not related to HL, but please see a doctor anyway particularly if this is worrying you.

Good luck

Thanks guys.

I am awaiting a call back from my doctors this morning to discuss so we shall see what happens.

Thank you for your replies.

Simon
