Desperated son from China - Does Temodal work?

So glad to see so many useful info on this website and so sorry to see so many people suffer the same illness as my mum.

My mum and I are located in Shanghai, China. My mum 51, diagonosed a GMB 4th grade Dec, 2008 and took the 1st surgery. Today, 17th Nov,2009 she took the 2nd surgery after a recurrance was diagonsed. I cried so hard when my mum told me she would prefer to die on the operating table rather than seeing me suffering. I would never forget the moment when my mum was sent into the surgery room and lying there alone. It seems to me a forever fareware with my mum. Thanks god, she survived again after a 8 hour surgery and amazingly looks good. But one of the best doctors in Shangahi, probalbly one of the best doctors in China told me the tumor would come back much faster than the 1st time. I'm so desperated, don't know how to face my mum even only with a simple smile until the doctor told me we can try Temodal. Believe me, it's still a very new medicine in China and very few doctors know about the effectiveness of it. So I would beg anyone who has used this drug to share your experiences on this drug. We're not rich, but if the medicine works, even only can let my mum live a few more months, it's worthwhile already. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi chongzhez. I am so sorry about your mother's GBMIV. My mother died of one just 2 months after her diagnosis but she opted for no treatments.

I can tell you that there is very little that is good about a GBMIV. There is very little that can be done that will bring any kind of long term help. I have only heard of one person who lived more than 2 years after diagnosis. Temodal works better (in most cases) than any other type of chemotherapy. But with a GBMIV, that too is very little. All I can say is that she can try it and hope for the best. Maybe she can be one that outlives her prognosis. After all, a prognosis is just a number. There is always that one person who lives much longer than anyone expects.
