I apologize in advance if this sounds like a really stupid question but I'm confused... Per my CT results, I have a 6mm ovoid shape nodule in my right lung and a 1.3cm cavity in my left lung. As an aside, I also have multiple nodules on my thyroid ranging in size from 4mm to 7 mm. Anyhow, I've seen many references to cancerous (lung) lesions on this board and I'm curious if this is the same thing as what's listed as a cavity on my CT scan or something different.

BTW, my PCP recommended the ?wait and see? approach to see if any of these nodules grow over the next few months but my hematologist/oncologist recommended a full body PET scan. I?m anxiously awaiting insurance approval on the PET from Medical Mutual of Ohio, SuperMed Plus. Does anybody have advice or experience with getting PET approved under similar circumstances. I also called the hospital to see if I could guarantee payment with a credit card just to get this darn thing scheduled and deal with insurance later but they said the cost ranges from $7K-15K. This sounds awfully inflated compared to posts of reimbursement/cost ranging from $800-1.5K.

Thank you so much in advance for any advice you can offer.
