Could some one please tell me if any have heard of this ?? Please
Mom ws diagnosed w/ severe emphysema a wk ago. She has had a ct w/ and w/o contrast . The reason is the pulminologist found 3 growths on one lung and 1 in the other . I'm driving myself crazy and would like to know what these things could mean or be ...She has a return visit on the 28th. Please advise . Thank you , Jennifer |

Sorry to hear this. There is a chance that this represents cancer. However, there are different things that can happen, such as infections and old granulomas. I am sure she will need to follow up with her doctor to figure out exactly what those are.

| i have been going for cat scans for last two yrs, due to nodules in my rt lower lobe, the scan i had recently shows a new 4 mm pleural based nodule increased density posteriorly in rt lower lobe, went to thorasic dr, he told me he will do another scan in 6 months, told him been a smoker for 30 yrs, mother died at age 53 with lung ca, and had 1 small growth, he said no biopsy at this time wait to see in 6 months other dr said a pleural based nodule cant be ruled out, im 46, what does this all mean, any help with all this would be very helpful to me. |

Hello
It is impossible to know exactly what it is. It sounds your doctor wants to recheck things in 6 months to see how (if) it changes. I can only speculate as to what the nodules are, and if you are unsure about this you can always seek a second opinion.
