Seven years ago my mother died of colon cancer (matastasized to liver ca), age 65. She had acromegaly, probably since childhood (diagnosed and treated at age ~45). I understand that since her death at least one study has demonstrated a link between acromegaly and colon cancer. The question: if I do not show symptoms of acromegaly (inheritance is still an unknown for this condition, as I understand it), do I still face an increased likelihood of contracting CC?

Hello

Thanks for posting. Regardless of you having acromegaly or not, you are at increased risk just by having a first-degree relative with colon cancer. Talk to your doctor, since you will have to be screened more frequently than the general population.

regards,
Leo
