Hi Everyone my best and closest friend and love has CLL, this is not new to us and I have never written on a forum before but I fear the end is near. He has had several Chemo treatments over the last few years and today saw the specialist and his white blood cell count is 180k. He has had swollen ankles and a swollen and painful upper left abdomen. He is having a CT scan tomorrow of his whole body and they are starting chemo on Monday.
With the added symptoms I feel the end is near but I am not sure as I do not know a lot.
Any thoughts from those who know more would be good.
Thanks

This is such a shame to see on a forum that is supposed to support people, I cam here looking not for answers but for comfort and support in what is a very frightening time for me..............I am not in the same country as my Friend/Love and i just want not to feel so alone in this battle. I thought others with similar experiences would be able to offer a kind caring word .
Is this how cold we have become...............that 29 people have looked at and read my posts and not even one could offer a kind word not one could say we wish him all the best with his treatment not a single word.
I hope when any of you are in need of support you are not left like I have been.
I wish you all the very best in what is happening to all of You in your lives and I pray there will be support there for you when you need it.. |

Butterfly.
180,000 is high but not as high as some on our Forum www.cllforum.com we have members with wbc in the 4-5 hundred thousands.
high wbc is not a reason to treat CLL. The CLL cells because of thier size do not pose the threat of stroke.
Cheers

Yes i guess so but it is all not important now. He had chemo but never recovered from it he passed away a few days after treatment finished. He had a very rough time of it.
Thanks for the reply anyway did not think anyone here would reply since it has been a while i was seeking help.
He passed away on the 28th March 2006. |

butterfly,
I am so sorry for your loss. I don't often check the leukemia forum, but did today and noticed your posts and that you had lost your love. I am so sorry that there were not more posts before now. This cancer can be very unforgiving. Please know that my prayers are with you during this sad time. I lost my twin sister to lung cancer on 6-11-05. Today I just decided to check all the forums. I am trying to talk with as many as possible so they don't have to go through what happened to you. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

Hi Lana
Thanks for taking the time to respond even though it just takes a few minutes it means so much to the one receiving the message.
I am happy for my love that finally he is safe and not suffering any more it was a long hard battle. I wonder if in the end it was the chemo that killed him. It took him hard and he had just had enough it was more than his frail body could cope with.
To know people care is a comfort. Remember this that no matter how small we think our encouragement is every little bit helps and lots of little bits add up to a big bit.
I wish you all the best and i am sorry also for your loss, I know death is part of life but we are often so unprepared for how it hits us.
Bless you
