My friend was diagnosed with stage II rectal carcinoma. Could you tell me the survival rate, options for treatment, and possible web sites regarding rectal carcinoma information? Thanks.

Usually rectal cancer is treated with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. A combination of these treatments is usually necessary. The goal is to get all the tumor out. Some advocate receiving chemotherapy before surgery, and even radiation to reduce the tumor and facilitate surgery.

best regards,
