Is it possible to get a normal/benign mole in an armpit?

I did a check today and noticed a small very dark mole about 2mm right in the crease of my left arm pit. It could have been there all my life for all I know (I am quite a moley person I have about 50 small moles of around 2-4mm) but I only recently noticed it today when doing an all over check.

It is an elliptical shape, symmetrical, with smooth edges and all the same colour but very dark brown - it measures about 2mm max.

Is this something I need to be concerned about - I only went to my GP on Monday to check out a different mole which I thought was suspicious but she said was benign. I dont want her to think Im a hypochondriac if I go running back

Any advice would be good

Thanks in advance

Moles grow everywhere that there is skin... even the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands.... nowhere is immune from a mole.

Follow the ABCDE's, no matter where the mole is, to determine if it requires a looksee by the doctor.

Asymmetry
If you draw a line through this mole, the two halves will not match, meaning it is asymmetrical, a warning sign for melanoma.

Border
The borders of an early melanoma tend to be uneven. The edges may be scalloped or notched.

Color
Having a variety of colors is another warning signal. A number of different shades of brown, tan or black could appear. A melanoma may also become red, white or blue.

Diameter
Melanomas usually are larger in diameter than the size of the eraser on your pencil (1/4 inch or 6 mm), but they may sometimes be smaller when first detected.

Evolving
When a mole is evolving, see a doctor. Any change — in size, shape, color, elevation, or another trait, or any new symptom such as bleeding, itching or crusting — points to danger.

Hi Kaelie thanks for taking the time to post Smile

I saw my GP this morning (as otherwise I would have been thinking about it all weekend) and she says it is benign and nothing to worry about

Thanks for your help
