Overview:
My father has stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer that has spread to his shoulder and pelvis. Hormone therapy failed to lower his PSA. He was on a Vitamin D / Dexamethazone clinical trial that also failed with no positive results whatsoever. Over three months, the bone scan showed a 5% progression of hot spots. His PSA rose rapidly during the trial, doubling in 3 months to a current reading of 82. The only pain he experienced was in the shoulder (quite extreme for 2-4 days) following the Dexamethazone pill. When the Dexamethazone leaves his system, he is virtually pain free and has a normal quality of life
My questions are as follows:
1.) Has anyone else experienced pain at the metastatic site after being treated with dexamethazone?
2.) His oncologist has recomended Taxotere Chemotherapy even though he is experiencing no pain. Shouldn't he enjoy his current quality of life before subjecting himself to Chemo?
3.) It seems that all of his doctors are relying heavily on his PSA to justify the Chemo. Shouldn't obvious discomfort be the catalyst for Chemo?

Please respond with any advice or information you have regarding my father's case. Especially those that have a similar diagnosis.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Frank

I took a look at Dr Pfeifer's web site last night and it's very interesting. Relatively speaking it seems to be reasonably priced, I calculated approximately $1000/month.
Has anyone on this forum tried or know of someone who tried Dr. Pfeifer's plan?

Thanks,
Frank

I have seen a number of postings about "Prostasol" which is one of the main parts of Dr Pfeifer's protocol, on the prostate forum at www.health.groups.yahoo.com

Do not know if any of them there have used the full protocol, but some are familiar with it, and many have certainly had good results with "Prostasol"
