A couple of weeks ago I noticed a red lump on the side of my neck. I thought it was a zit and thought nothing of it really. But two weeks on it is still there. It does not appear to have any pus in it and does not look too much like any zit I have had previously so I am sure that it is not a zit.

It is maybe about quarter of an inch across and raised. It feels hard to the touch and does not move at all. I am not really aware that it is there unless I look in a mirror but when I touch it I am tempted to say it is sore or itchy but it is not quite that extreme.

I am sure I am being paranoid but I was wondering if there are any forms of skin cancer that start in this way. Should I get this checked out or am I being a hypochondriac?

I would suggest seeing your dermatologist. It may be nothing more than a small sebaceous cyst or a variety of other benign skin lesions. When in doubt it is always safer to have it evaluated.

I have deleted several replyies to this topic because they were off topic and involved alternative treatments. If you wish to continue to discuss that treatment, please, use the alternative treatment forum. Thank you.

How did this turn out for you? Your description matches exactly what I have on my neck (right now). I'm thinking basal cell but it came on incredibly sudden.
