My boyfriend was diagnosed with Lymphoma and will be starting chemotherapy next week. He is receiving MAOI therapy. Anyway, he was given a 10-page packet of things that he cannot eat or drink while going through chemo. We are living together up at college and I will be making him most of his meals. We have the packet of foods that he cannot eat, but nothing suggesting what he should eat. If anyone can suggest what would be good for him, or what might taste the best to him, it would be such a huge help.

Hi Meg.
First of all sorry for the sad news. BUT you sound positive and looking for all sorts of ways to beat this thing. I haven't been through Chemo- but have heard fresh fruit and vegies...But really anything he feels like to eat. As it can make you very nausuated. Some energy drinks might help with salt and energy levels.
Hope this helps a little, but i'm sure you'll have some post from people who have been 'through' it.
Keep up the strength and attitude

Meg, I am truly sorry about your boyfriend's diagnosis. Lymphomas are a pretty had group of cancer to deal with. If you and he are in college, then you are both probably very young, at least in comparison to me (53 here).
Basically, give him anything he wants that is not on that list. One of my father's favorite supplements was a milk shack made of:
One can of Ensure (or similar product... cold)
On scoop of ice cream (flavor was his choice)
Half a cup of some type of fruit (again, his choice)
I high protein supplement (like muscle builders use)
Half a cup of whole milk
Two or Three ice cubes
Blend until the ice-cubes are totally broken and the mixture looks like a milkshake
Make sure this recipe conforms with his list of "do not eat" foods.
Also helpful is a multivitamin with minerals.
I am moving this thread to the complementary and alternative medicine forum. _________________ Jim

| Temporary smoking of marijuana will stimulate his appetite. |

Follow harry's advice only if it is legal in your state and prescribed by a doctor. If it is illegal in your state and/or the doctor does not give you a prescription for it, forget his advice. You could get into more trouble than it is worth. _________________ Jim
