Hi~

Mom got her MRI back and they say the cancer hasn't spread anymore than the lump and lymph nodes (still don't know how many), which seems to be good news. She still considered a stage 2 and I found out it is Ductile Cancer (thank you, Nancy). Still haven't heard about the hormone test or HR2 test (?).

I am going out to Chicago for her surgery on Wed. next week and staying with her for a week. She's in and out same day and opted for the lumpectomy. Mom seems positive but the emotions have started coming. We're all being as positive as we can.

Nancy - again, thank you so much for all of your help and information. I have really felt more informed and have been able to ask some questions that needed asking. I couldn't have done it with you! Very Happy

Hi Val,

I'm glad for any help I could give.

It's normal to be nervous, but the strange thing for me was, the night before surgery (my 1st surgery since I was 3 and that was tonsils and don't remember..... lol) I slept pretty good. I was nervous of course, but my thoughts were to get the **** cancer out of me, and that's why I think I was o.k. the day of surgery. Maybe that's an approach for not only you to take, but when your mom has concerns, which are absolutely normal, to remind her that the surgery is a good thing, they are going to take the tumor and the cancerous lymph nodes out of her body.

Please do keep me posted on how surgery goes (I know it will go smooth) and what the path report shows. I'm guessing they will do a Sentinal Node Biopsy vs. removing them all (I had all mine removed), but if they don't tell her exercises to do, to ask the surgeon. She needs to get that arm moving so scar tissue doesn't build up. The mastectomy was a breeze, but the node removal was painful and I babied my arm............BAD move on my part. It just delayed the pain and healing. I'm "thinking" (dangerous) that they biopsied 1 node or did they already do a sentinal node biopsy?

Please tell your mom that she's in my prayers. We're all stronger then we ever thought we were and after the fear, come anger towards this disease and then we're ready to kick some cancer butt Smile
