Hello everyone,

I was just reading past posts and realized I have not posted since the beggining of Sept. My mom was scheduled for radiation for her gbm 4 begining of Sept. and had made the decision to not take temodar. Mom only made it to two radiation treatments. Her condition was comprimised before she started radiation (walking with walker, not able to do steps, etc.) Looking back now and understanding the "flair" on the MRI , I realize the tumor had started to grow back within 4 weeks after gross total debulking surgery July 25th. After the second dose of radiation, a second opion from a radiation oncologist, explained the tumor was growing faster than it could be radiated.
I was caring for my mother in her home with the help of Hospice and, of course, the weeks of Sept. were an onslought of medical decline for my mother. Medical equipment, and Meds were ordered and delivered daily in order to care for her and keep her comfortable. The tumor grew that fast, and with swelling that was kept at bay with Decadron. It was literally 24/7 and that is why I could not post here, though I thought of this forum often. It gave me strength. I prayed for physical strength too, as sleep was only 2 to 4 hours total per day for me and not consecutive. Selpt with an alarm clock on my lap, set for 1 or 2 hours. Prayers answered, I was never tired-always awake and calm enough to keep up with med. doses. A wonderful Hospice RN stopped by daily.

On Sept. 28th, at 7pm my mother passed away, in her own home, with me and my two sisters by her side.

Thought I could get through this post with out crying, I can't. I will post more later.

Nell

Nell, my heart goes out for you. I am so sorry about your mother's death. I know how hard it is for me to tell the story of my mother's death and that as over 9 years ago. My mother died within 2 months of her diagnosis.

You are doing the right thing by sharing your pain on this forum.

I will continue to think about and pray for you during this difficult time in your life.

Nell - I'm so sorry about your loss. It's hard and we often hear it over and over, but she isn't in any pain now and free. Please remember the good times and try to forget the bad times.

Take Care and stay in touch.

Nell - Im so sorry to hear that your Mum passed away. It's a terrible and unfair disease and there are way too many people effected by it. I don't know what to say except to say that my thoughts, love and prayers are with you. Stay in touch. Love to all. Jen

Nell
I am so sorry about your mom. The pain ( and the relief ) after they pass is immense. It will take time. GBM is a terrible illness, rapid and unrelenting.

It is 2 months since my dad passed away and it is slowly getting easier.

Take care of yourself and allow yourself the time and space to grieve.

Regards
Karen

Dear Nell,
Thinking of you today & realised it's been just over 4 weeks since your Mom passed away.
How are you & your family?
I can understand that the days are long & sometimes almost impossible to get through with grief & sadness. Please know you are in my thoughts & prayers, I hope & pray your burden of grief will become less as the days roll into weeks & your memories of your Mom will be blessed with loveliness & happiness.
God bless you. Cheers, Aussie Angie.
