I also posted this in the General category but just in case You only hang out here.
I also will acknowledge that my Mom is very lucky (at this point) considering many of the other patients here who have been experienced more devastating news.
Does anyone have a source (on-line preferred) for High Calorie diets / menus that will help a recovering Pancreatic Cancer patient regain her weight loss with the twist that with only part of the pancreas left, watching glucose levels is an issue.
We have tried a few things both liquid & solid but it is slow going especially because she is so worried about blood sugar levels. |

| not sure if this will help, but I know my father in law drinks something called glycerna or glucerna-it is a high calorie milk shake made for diabetics. It comes in a can and there are several different flavors-choc, vanilla, strawberry etc. He likes it and supposedly it gives them back some nutrients that they may be missing. don't know too much else to offer you but maybe you can check with her doctor or a nutritionist. |

| Audib: Thanks for response & product idea. It's Glucerna, we'll check it out. I sent her some Carnation Very High Calorie formula but the consistency (thick) seems strange to her. |

This may seem strange but I ate bananas with peanut butter on them twice daily. I tried the milk energy drinks but they did not agree with me. Of course that's not the only food items I ate but when that was added my weight increased. It worked for me but each person is different. Good luck

| KR: Thanks for that suggestion. She likes both and the idea to add to daily intake makes lots of sense. |

Hi. My dad had a successful whipple and is doing well however, it was a long, long road especially where food is concerned. He is the MOST picky eater and would not eat or drink any of those ensure/boost etc. products. His food choices are a little weird & not really healthy but we just wanted him to eat & they seemed to have worked
Everything he ate he put Italian salad dressing on - he said the tang was the only thing he could taste. Also, he lived on Shrimp & rice, hoagies, peanuts, lots and lots of ginger ale, my sister snuck coffee mate creamer into his milk & ice cream just to add some calories, olives on sandwiches etc...pasta etc... |

B66 - thanks for response & ideas.
My Mom has tried a variety of things and finally there has been some small weight gain. So we'll keep our fingers crossed & take it one day at a time. |
