My son is three years old. I noticed that he has two moth balls size glands on both sides of his neck. He has been on antiobiotics for the past two months. His pediatrician recommended that I take him to see a specialist.

The specialiist said that if it does not get better in the next few weeks they have to be romoved. The lymph nodes are abstracting his breathing which is why the specialist was concerned. They are pretty large, and when asked if they hurt my son said no. I tried looking up many articles on the matter, but what I have noticed is that there is not many on young children.

I wanted to know if there is someone, anyone else out there going through the same situiation that can offer their experience, or advice. I have been sick with worry.

Concerned Mom,
Jem

Jem, I can only imagine how worried you are. It is never easy to have a sick child. I do not want to give you false hope but the primary cause of enlarged lymph nodes is an infection. Sometimes, there are no other signs of the infection.

I know that there is the danger that it is more than just an infection. You and your small son are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will copy this message to our Childhood Cancers forum. Other parents might see it there and reply. I also changed your subject title to attract more attention.
