My mom's cancer seems to be weighing down her chest. She's afraid to lay down in the bed because she feels as though she will suffocate. She can't even take a bath b/c she says when the water comes up to her lung its like not breathing at all. It's so hard for her to sleep. She literally sleeps hunched over sitting in a chair. She can't lay back nor straight up. She is also in so much pain. Is there anyone else who's experienced this with any suggestions?

I know you are sorry for me and my family. No need to express that and I would be EXTREMELY appreciative if you'd keep her in your prayers. But please only reply if you have an answer. I've seen so many I'm sorry posts on here I'm just full of em at this point. Please don't be offended just my feelings.

AllureSoul, when did she have her last scan (x-ray or CAT scan)? Is she coughing any? If she is, is she coughing up anything? It sounds like your mother might have pneumonia. My father had the same problem breathing when he would lie on his back. He slept sitting up in his recliner. I finally got him to go to his doctor and the doctor found out that Dad had pneumonia.

You and your mother are indeed in my prayers.

Pneumonia, pleural effusion, peri-cardial effusion, loculation, blood clots, tumor compression of bronchial tubes, tumors compressing or wrapped around major arteries around the heart, atrial fibrillation.

My husband had many of the above, no pain though, and often sat hunched over in the final month or two of his illness.

Call her doctor.
