I was dx with stage 2 colon cancer Oct 2002 and stage 1 breast Oct 2003, also had hysterectomy 20 years ago for cervical. I am looking for info on multiple primary cancers and why some people are "prone to cancer" as my oncologist has described me. It seems there are no support groups for this particular problem.

Sue

There are several well-known syndromes that make people more vulnerable to cancers. One that involves specifically colon cancer is called HNPCC, or hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer.

You can read more about it here http://www.clevelandclinic.org/registries/inherited/hnpcc.htm and here http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease1&organ=6&disease=32&lang_id=1

regards,
Leo
