|
|
Going for my third chemo, and my hair is really starting to thin out, lots of hair falling out etc.
A couple of people told me if I did not lose it after my first treatment it would just thin out.
Anybody have any experience with this?
Thanks. _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

| Mine started to fall out on second. Most people just go through thining, which is my case as well (after 7 treatments). It looks like it slowed down actually. Go for the hair cut, a good one. Do not worry! |

| You know, time goes fast. Not sure if you are working, but I found one part time job and it works! I love it, it's easy and then you are not thinking too much. And you are thinking about other stuff not only your situation. I have 5 more to go and in the beggining looked like it will take forever. Find some fun, move the focus and it will be easier. Good luck! Btw, we are the same age... |

Hi Mont,
Yeah I try, I work the off week from home, The other week I am on short term.
I am programmer so I can do most of my work from home, and you know how a cold or flu goes with people in cubicles
I am really lucky to have a very understanding boss, and company.
You are right stay busy take your mind off the discomfort. But I find my focus is really lacking most of the time. And the week of Chemo I find just sitting is all I can do
Yeah the worst part of it all, My dad who died of panceaca{sp) cancer in 2005, had been telling for years to get a colonsocpy(sp), which I did not listen to him, I said "Ahh I am to young", and would you not know it, it bit me in the butt(i.e. colon), guess you cant go back _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

I remember having painful abdominal pain, and being diagnosed with Irritable bowl syndrome by my GP.
Went to the Gastrologist, who said it was IBS, but he should do a colonoscopy anyways, I said was it was not cancer, he
said by no means was it cancer.
Boy was I shocked… At least we got it at stage III. _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

| I had one and only symptom-blood in my stool every day and that was all. But I knew it from the beginning that it was something more serious than what first doctor told me, the one that missdiagnised me. I was not at all supriced when other one told me it was ca. Good luck to all of us! Stay positive! |

Damn,
Once again the Side effect are a bit different, my taste is just as awful, but now Have very bad cold sweats, the skin on my body is clamy and cold to the touch, and any major drop in temp, ie the Air Con, just makes feel like crap.
But I have no nausea, which is the good thing, those amed pills do the trick...
Back to the Hot tea from me for the next week.... _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

Is that the same a L Glutamine pill?
Yes I am going thru Constipaion -> Diahrea and back and forth, never know how it is coming each day
They lowered my Oxiplantin by 20% this time and I think I am feeling a bit better on day two, but it still sucks, I hate having this pump on for two days, such a ball and chain....
But it is all for my own good, I dont want any micro cancers to take hold, thats what I keep telling my self _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

| Should be the same... but check. It has to be very pure (ask in the store, do not buy it at Cosco but in specialized stores). I am on the pump too... get used, not that bad. |

Thanks for the info,
As for the pump, every time it goes buzz I just know it is pumping crap into me... Just a mental thing, I get really happy knowing it will come off tomorrow. _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer

| Mine starts tomorrow! But without Oxaliplatin, it caused this ugly "numinitis". Will be only 5-FU. It is cold here in Seattle and how is in Austin? Warm weather will help your nervs! |

It is in the 70's in the am up to 85 later in the day, so I keep with ceiling fans and the AC cause's my tounge to prickle, numb and my chest feels tight and harder to breath... And walking with a breeze is just no good.
What did you doctor tell you about getting off the Oxiplantin, how much did it effect the treatment of getting rid of the cancers etc, I feel the numinits in my feet, and hands the most, but it is tolerable for now, but I would love to get off of it, butt... _________________ 1/11/08 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer
