My name is Erin. I am 35 and have 2 kids, 10 and 12.

A little over a week ago, I was seen by a dermatology P.A regarding a skin growth on my left shoulder that eventually began to drain and bleed. As soon as he looked at it, the PA said it was a pyogenic granuloma, benign, nothing to worry about. He said they would send it out for pathology as they do all lesions that are removed but there was nothing to worry about.

I got a call on Monday from that office and they told me over the phone that I had a melanoma and that it was deep.
I then wnet in and spoke to the PA and he REALLY scared my husband and I.
I posted on the melanoma forum about the whole story up to this point but, according to my path report, it is nodular type, ulcerated, Clark's level IV, Breslow's level 4.4 mm.

I am currently waiting to hear from MD Anderson regarding my referral and hope it will be soon.

For now I am just hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
