Does anyone know the precentage that ovarian an ovarian mass is cancerous. For over a year I have been to my gyn, GI, and internal medicine doctors with complaints of pelvic pressure and pain, urinary frequency and incontinenc, abdominal bloating, back pain, and a general unwell feeling. I had to start wearing a back and abdominal support to help alleviate the pressure and discomfort. My Gyn finally said I needed a bladder suspension. I was not satisfied so I switched GYN doctors. My new Doctor immediately sent me for a transvaginal pelvic ultrasound that showed a 10cm(4in) cyst/mass. She said it was the size of a baby's head. On Tuesday I have an MRI. Does anyone know with the symptoms and size the chance that it would be begnin or cancerous.
Sincerely,
AL

Hi AL,

Gosh, I'm very sorry to hear that all of this has been getting worse over the last year. How frustrating to have some doctor dawdling around when your health has obviously become worse with incontinence and back issues.

I have no answer for your question. My mom had ovarian cancer and it spread very quickly all over her abdomen before it was caught. I don't know about different types and growth rates. The symptoms are consistent with how any mass that size would affect your insides and back.

I'm glad the new doctor is on top of this for you and I'll pray that this mri gives more of a clue what is going on.

I'm sure you are very worried and I'm sorry. Please keep us posted.

Hugs to you,
PBJ

AnneLouise, I am very sorry about your health concerns. I too have no answer to your question. However, even a cyst that large can cause you problems and needs to be removed or treated in some way.

Keep us informed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I finaly had an MRI that shows a predominantly fat sequence that is compatible with a dermoid cyst. My Gyn said that the majority of dermoid cysts are benign between the age of 15-40. The cancer risk incresaes after 40. I am 46 and have a modrate amount of free fluid in the abdomen. My gyn said that this type of mass needs to be surgically removed and frozen sections for a conclusive diagnosis. Has anyone had a similiar diagnosis? Biospy results?
Thanks,
ALS
