Hi, Im Lucy, Im 24 years old, and ive been battling Stage IV stomach cancer for a little over a year now. When I was initially diagnosed I was given 6 months to live, and I have sought second opinions and they have said the same.
I am still doing chemo, and no one has a clue how much longer it will be until this .... goes somewhere. |

Welcome Lucy
I am very sad to hear you are battling cancer, especially at such a young age!
If you haven't already done it, you should post your story / history with cancer on the appropriate thread where people with similar stories can share with you & you with them.
This forum is a great source of comfort, support, love, information & advice.
Cheers, Angie. _________________ Brother diagnosed with GBMIV Feb 07

Hi chingling
I think there is always hope. If you type "spontaneous remission from cancer " in google you will get some good hits. A good place to start is the wikipeadia article on spontaneous remission. It does happen enough to be verifiable. here is a cut n paste from the article
A published example of unexpected spontaneous remission is that of John Matzke. At 30 years old, he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 1974. A chest tumour and lung cancer were found in 1984. Instead of undergoing immediate treatment, he spent one month hiking, meditating, and eating healthfully (to prepare his body for treatment). Surprisingly, upon his next X-ray appointment, the tumour had disappeared.
I this case I am sure his doctors gave him a similar prognosis to yours.
I hope no jokers have told you to keep up a positive attitude. Its alright to get down about this, just don't lose your ability to laugh every once in a while.
If you are strong enough keep us posted chingling. I think it helps to talk to as many people as possible , even in forums like this
You are very much in my thoughts and good luck with the chemo _________________ Age 52
