I recently heard about the usage of RUTA 6 for brain tumors.

Does any one have any experience with using this remedy?
My history is --
November 2007 Surgery for anaplastic oligodendroglioma (class III) Removed all of visible tumor
Stereotactic radiotherapy - 28 session ending 2/08
Currently on 5 out of 28 days of temodar dose 315 mg

Can RUTA 6 be taken with Temodar?

Thank you

Hello Solargo50,

My husband was recently taking Ruta and Cal/Phos and Temodar, but just not for the 5 days that he was actually taking the Temodar pills - he would only take it for the 23 days off. The pharmacy just said the concern was taking anything that had an antioxidant effect while taking the temodar because you could run the risk of the antioxidant repairing the cells that the temodar is trying to kill. It's odd though, because you hear so much about antioxidants being good to fight cancer . . . Confused

He had a hard time keeping up with the schedule of when you need to take it and to take it with a 'clean mouth' (they say 15mins on either side of when you take it) as he is a chef and has to taste food all the time, and is incredibly busy and it needs to be taken every few hours alternating with the cal/phos.

I wish you the best of luck with it!

I ***ALWAYS*** advise people to consult with their own doctors before taking any supplements... especially if they are taking chemotherapy. Although I do trust Mama2, you never know who you should or should not trust on the Internet.

solargo50, I am very sorry about your astrocytoma. We have that in common... lucky us Rolling Eyes
