I was diagnosed with early breast cancer (stage I). Can anyone recommend a good hospital in the LA area ? I will have surgery.

I do not live in the LA area but I have a friend that lived there and she went to the City Of Hope for her breast cancer and was more then happy with her treatment.

Lucy,

Are you in LA or one of the surrounding areas? If it's really LA try the UCLA breast center or City of Hope. If you're in Orange County try Hoag.

You'll also need to find a good oncologist who can help you determine whether you might benefit from chemo. This can be a difficult decision with stage I.

If your cancer is ER+, I would suggest you look into a new test through Genomic Health:

www.genomichealth.com

The OncotypeDX test is supposed to predict the rate of recurrence for early stage, ER+ cancers.
