my gf is 25 and she has been diagnosed with myeloma. I had been told someone of her age is less than 1% likely to have what she has. I also wonder if those odds are in her favour as i have seen the statistics and they dont look good.
She is in texas, she is a very wealthy woman and has been in a private hospital for 6 months (since she was diagnosed) with extremely close observation. Her uncle is a well known doctor who is working around the clock for her. All i know at the moment is they are trying to get her cancer in remission in order to perform a autogeneic stem cell transplant. The last few things shes had done to her is getting a platelet transfusion. She has had several of these.

I worry and i wonder what danger she is in, her mother died of cancer when she was in her 40s. I worry that she wont get through the treatment. She wasnt responding well to chemo, and i think at the moment theya are doing an expensive trial. She has lost all her hair which is hard for a girl her age. I try keep her as up as i can. All i know is that she has contact with one person, her aunty who brings her food and keeps her compnay at nights. Following the stem cell transplant she will continue to stay in isolation until she has made alot of progress to avoid infection. Bascially she is given the best shot to get over this, i know some people who have the same thing basically go about their life and job and only go to the hospital for the transplant for a few weeks and out again. I guess she is lucky in the sense, she can afford anything that is thrown her way. She has a donor already for her transplant but i guess money couldnt save her mother or father.
Shes so amazing, shes never been able to have a clean run. So much stress in the last 6 months (death of her dad, suicide attempt, mental instituation) its amazing shes still standing. I just want a chance for her to get over this and be happy !!!!! shes 25!!!!!!
