Hi
I recently discovered a swollen lymph node under armpit about 3-4 weeks ago, I went to dr thinking this may be a infection, but CBC ruled infection out, a mammogram and biopsy was done, mammogram came back normal and biopsy came back as lipoma, the problem is since biopsy I have had more swollen lymph nodes under armpit and ribcage and in the breast itself, that may have been there, as breast specialist found other lymph nodes during examination, and under opposite armpit as well, I also had a chest xray where a enlarged blood vessel or lymph node showed up, I have some strange symptoms that concern me, but dr saids im fine, and worry to much...But 12 yrs ago, I had a swollen lymph node in groin area, that was removed and was told it was NHL for a week, and then told it wasn't... So confusing, and after being home for a week out of hospital, received a letter to see a onocologist and hematology doc, but never did because of fear..now im getting this swollen lymph nodes again, and dr told me I couldn't have had this for 12 yrs without treatment because I would have already been dead?? Is this true, and I am just over anxious or should I be worried?? |

Hi Terri, im sorry to hear about all this bad news. Im no doctor or anything so im not really sure im just a newly diagnosed patient. But i dont think you would have died if you had lymph nodes for 12 years because if there painless and you dont have sympotms some times you dont know until they grow bigger. I dont trust doctors words anyway they never take things seriously and sometimes you cant always rely on their words until you get the test and have proof. I dont think you are being over anxious because i know how it feels it took me a a year to get a doctor to listen to me and finally get me tested because i too was having weird symptoms. I know your probably worried and scared but if i were you i would definately go and get tested its better to know then sit in the dark and worry and not know whats wrong with you. Its your health and body so of course your going to be anxious. The doctor was wrong once about it being NHL so maybe hes wrong again but who knows ( hopefully it is nothing though). I had a lymph nodes in my chest near my lung and they wouldnt listen to me and it spread. I hope everything turns out okay and i will be thinking of you. Please keep us posted and hopefully you will get tested and have some good news.
Bye

Hi Terri,
I'm no doctor but am a patient. It amazes me how many people on this forum seem to be run from one doctor to another when they have symptons that could be considered with lymphoma.
If for nothing else except your freedom of mind, I urge you to get some definitive test such as a CAT-scan, PET-scan, and/or a more reliable biopsy. Waiting in the dark is about as bad as the treatment itself, should the tests turn out positive.
I send you strength. _________________ Burt |

Hi Burt and Vanessa,
Thank you both , I am very worried, I meant to say the chest xray showed the lymph node or enlarged blood vessel showed up in my lung.. I have chest pains and pain in top of my back near shoulder blade...pain near ribcage, Also have periods where I break out in a cold sweat, day or night, chills, fever, loss of appetite, nausea, shortness of breathe, and very fatigue.. (About 2 yrs ago I loss alot of weight, went from a size 8 to a 4, maybe 3, but recently have started gaining weight back..) I did however in last week start seeing a new doc after biopsy came back, and the old dr told me the other nodes were nothing. I asked the old dr for a complete body scan, and genetic testing because of new nodes coming up, but he told me that blood test would show up any cancers, and other tests were not needed, the CBC test that he did do, came back with my RBC slighty elevated, HGB slighty up, and HCT highly elevated, and rest of test at high end of normal.. The new dr wants to run some test, but since I don't have insurance it is kinda hard having to pay out of pocket for test , just in last month I have spent over $1,000 for test and meds alone, plus new test( stress test) is around $3,000 that was put on payment plan... I had a ekg that came back as not enough blood flow to heart, and was sent for a stress test, oh which I failed... Was on treadmill for 3 mins and heart rate went from 59 to 179 in that short of time.. and drs want to do more test, but since I have no insurance, now have to wait to be accepted thru hospital insurance program to have more tests done.. But was told if I have any chest pains to go to ER, I dont get it, Im not overweight, haven't really had health problems besides childbirth and normal female stuff, and now feel as if Im an OLD lady..I dont know what is going on with my body.
Thanks
Teri |
