Hi Sara,
you dont have anything to worry about with the gallium scan i had it done 2 weeks ago and theres no side effects and i dont think the chemicals (radiation or radioactive) sutff the inject in you harms your body. it stay in your body for a couple weeks i think. when you go to the doctor they will explain it all to you before they inject it and he told me theres no side effects from it and i feltt fine after it, only took a second to inject. I personally think the worst part is the actual gallium scan because you have to lay still for a very long time. at first they told me it would only take an hour and a half but on the actual day they said 2 hours and it really took me 3 hours. I didnt like it at all because the camera are an inch away from your face and they spin and at one point it was making me sick, and i had to hold my arms for a long time and they realllllly started to hurt so i had to move. But im not trying to worry or scare you because its a very simple test that i wouldnt worry about it as long as you dont move it should be very accurate and the chemicals wont harm your body.
I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you will soon know what you have. thinking of you

hi sara,
your welcome im glad i could help. i know how you feel i always get worried about all the chemicals and medications because i fear my future and health down the road. My gallium scan was for diagnose, after many many tests and what not i got a gallium scan to see if i had lymph nodes anywere else and to get a better look at them and the exact location because gallim scans are more accurate then other scans because the doctor can split your body (the picture) into different slices to get a better view and angle. so i start chemo next week. I hope everything goes okay with you.
