Hi,
I am 40 years old and have had rectal bleeding that has gotten more frequent. I went to the doctor due to chronic fatigue and high b/p.
Blood work indicates that I have anemia. My doctor sent me to a surgeon who did a physical exam and said that my bleeding was coming from inside my rectum. (Boy this is not something I am comfortable talking about!) Scheduled for a colonoscopy next Thursday. I have thought for a while this is chronic constipation problems nothing more. But something is not right here. I am worried and also nervous about the procedure. |

| I know these types of issues are never easy.My husband is due to go for a colonoscopy..his mother, grandfather and aunt all had bowel cancer. His aunt who went for the colonoscopy was found to have some cells that were clearly going to cause problems and had them removed. She is well and living life normally.Just remember if it is somehing more serious the earlier you catch it ,particulary colon cancers they are now very treatable.Good luck and whilst I understand your fear, please remember that there is usually alwyas another reason for these types of issues.Better to check and be safe and happy. You are sedated midly during the procedure and I am told that the thought is much more difficult than the procedure. |

Hi,
I had the colonoscopy Thursday. I was nervous up until they took me to the operating room then really scared! They first applied oxygen then put medication through IV. I was out! Next thing I knew I was returning to my out patient room and it was over. They said no signs of cancer or poloyps.
I am happy it is over and was normal, yet still have the unanswered question what is wrong with me? |

Hi Cindy,
I am so glad all went well. You must speak to your doctor and get answers.Remember your are in control. It may well be an infection that you have had or indeed a small tear.I take medication which causes constipation and I get alot of blood and mucus when the tear opens. Please go back and do not stop until you get the answers you want and need.
