Dear Momwithmelanoma I am real sorry to hear bout your mom! but there is hope. I was given interlukin-2 bout a year ago. I had a mole on my back that was malignit and had spread to my lymthnodes under both my arms. I was given interferon iv for thirty days then tryed shot and couldn't handle it. It had then spread to my right lung thats when they gave me interlukin-2. It is a very harsh drug but it is a lot easyer than chemo. They keep you very sudated while you are taking the med. The biggest thing they watch for is your blood pressure becouse it drops pretty low while taking it. I did gain alot of weight while on it becouse of the fluids they give you.I had some complacations while on it. But it worked very well on me at the end of my treatment my 9 spots on my lung were gone except for 2 and they surgicaly removed them. Your mom must be a very healthy lady to be able to take it couse not every one can qualify to recieve it.
