MOHS Micrographic Surgery

I was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) and I went in yesterday to have two spots removed. I really didn't feel it until the end when the anestetic began to wear off slightly and I could feel some of the stiches. Crying or Very sad

Overall, this procedure was pretty intense. I certainly don't want to go through it again and was wondering if there are any alternatives (as effective) that can be done if I notice another spot on my body?

There are other methods for this, but Mohs surgery is good at taking the disease out while taking minimal healthy tissue out. So it is a good technique. I would think more aggressive methods would take more tissue and therefore leave a worse scar. Plus, other methods rely on the surgeon's vision only, while with Mohs the surgeon is always evaluating the tissue with the microscope and then adjusting the next steps during surgery.

This was sent to me by one of my friends few days ago, who was doing his research on Non - Melanoma skin cancer so take a look, it is about this lady who was diagnosed with BCC Basal Cell Carcinoma for 12 months, before she start appling Curaderm to the BCC and eventually after 13 weeks of treatment the BCC was gone for good and there was no recurrence of BCC. How lucky she was as she doesn't go through any surgery. Well, I don't know if this is for real but I think its worth a try so you could try check this out if you happen to have BCC in the future.Also does any one used this product before?

As Bonita also said, ive also had some experience with Curaderm. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my chin and was recommended the cream by my docter. Amazingly, with NO surgery whatsoever, the bcc scabbed and fell off..and i have no scar at all.

I also had Mohs when I was first diagnosed with BCC (when i was 25). I was recently diagnosed with another on my upper lip and I knew there was no way I was doing Moh's again - especially on my lip. After MUCH research, I tried Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)...it's def. worth a try.

For those if you that have used Curaderm, could you give me more info. Was it painful? Was your treatment overseen by a doctor? How long did you use it for? and most importantly is it only for superficial BCC??

I just orderd it and was wondering about personal experiences. My dr said I had to have Moh's because it is not superficial. Any information would be helpful.
