I just recently had a swollen lymph node in my neck removed that had squamos cell cancer. The PET scan showed no cancer anywhere else in my body. The doctor says my immune system probably fought it off and the cells got stuck in the lymph gland where it began to grow. They want to go on a hunt with radiation and give me thearputic radiation in areas where they think it might of come from.

Has anybody got any information they can share that have had similar experiances?

Roland

Hi Roland,

I too will be having surgery to remove squamous cell carcnoma from lymph nodes in my leg. Inguinal nodes. After that - the doctors want me to follow up with radiation. They recommend targeted radiation called Tomotherapy. This is a newer generation radiation and doesn't harm healthy cells...or tries not to. Another newer radiation is IMRT. I may ask my doc's about this one - because it also targets the area of concern and harms less healthy cells - It's also more available than the Tomotherapy...

My doc's have said to expect about 5 weeks of radiation at 5 days a week - but only after my surgery has healed.
