First a bit of background information..

40 yo female, single mom, 11 yr old girl, 7 month old boy (had him after 12k reversal of tubal ligation)

Felt a "bump" on the outside of my "ass"...(sorry, will apologize now for my 100% irish crash sense of humour here)

Skip ahead 3 months and get a biopsy and hear today that it is indeed the big "c" word but treatable.

From what I have been told thus far, it is Seq (something or another) and its like skin cancer I've been told.

They tell me radiation for 5 weeks and that's it. Seems so surreal really..

I coach competitive soccer and bike 200k a week on a road bike...I feel freaking amazing and thought my "hemi's" were getting better...

I've been told "tis better now in the game"...which i guess is good...

What i want to know is:

1. Can I still continue my "crazy" lifestyle...(going for masters, single mom, coach, spca foster mom, blah blah blah)
2. Could i do this radiation on my lunch hour.? I've been told 5 mins m-f and then weekends off for 5 weeks.

I'm sorry if I come across as naive. I'm really not.

I've always been extremely tenacious and drive and had my son 2 hours after I coached an incredible overtime soccer game. I took 10 days off from coaching and 3 weeks off after having a c-section...

I feel great....no weight loss...appetite still drawing me to "almost dead" prime cuts of meat...

Am somewhat scared...I'm in the perfect state of health right now and want to stay that way...

They told me today that i had a 4% chance of having cancer at my age....A 1% chance of it being anal cancer.....Mine also presents on the outside of my anus which only happens in 1% of presentations of anal cancer I was told...They said I was very lucky...

I just want to know what to expect..

I have to be a "super-mom" doing what I do with my kids and I don't want to miss a beat dealing with this new buddy of mine named the big "C"...

Suggestions or "what I can expect "..

pretty pretty please

I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in my rectum. I'll tell you right now wrecked 'em is more like it. I went through radiation and chemo. But everyone is different!! I had a steady drip for one week then two months of radiation, then back in the hospital for another week of a steady drip. That was 11 years ago. I still get checked by am fine.

My life is affected but some days are just as normal as they ever were before the "C". I do have bouts of diarea. I wear a maxi pad in my panties and keep extras with me. My trouble is I have a hard time telling the difference between gas and the real thing. Always releived to find it only a "bubble"!!

You sound like a real trouper!! I believe that a positive attitude, faith and a sence of humor is a big help!!

Let me know if I can be of any help!!
