I am new to this forum...please excuse if this has been discussed before.

My husband had a PSA of 3.1 for several years and normal DRE. Last fall the DRE results were different. He went for a biopsy and had gleasons of 6-9 in all 12 sights. He opted for prostatectomy in January. While in surgery, the surgeon found that the cancer had invaded his bladder and removed about 1/3 of the bladder. This invasion into the bladder had not shown up on any scan.

He recovered very well, takes lupron every three months.

He recently had an episode when he was unable to urinate and started passing blood. He was hosptalized for 5 days. After cystoscopy, bone scan, ct scan, this is what we know: he has another bleeding tumor in his bladder and a suspicious area on his pelvic bone. Most results of tests have not yet been revealed to us (just got home from the hospital yesterday) but will be at a consult with oncologist on Tuesday.

He is still passing blood and clots and has some hip pain.

What can I expect to hear from the doctors on Tuesday? I hate the waiting. I want to know the plan.

Anyone else out there have a similar problem?

Well, we have some more info. The tumor in his bladder passes to the outside of the bladder into the pelvic area and into the pelvis bone.

We met with the oncologist and chemo is being suggested and maybe a clinical trial. We go back to NYC tomorrow for another consult and to set up chemo treatments.

His PSA is still zero!!!!!
